Back in September 2010 I was at the beginning of a long two year stretch in College to complete my National Diploma Level 3 in Horse Management and started looking for a young horse to bring on in my spare time, knowing I didn't have a lot of time to ride because of college the option of a younger horse was perfect. '8 month old 11hh Piebald Colt' -- I went to visit this foal, and he was in a terrible state covered in lice, obviously had worms and his hair matted. Against numerous people's opinions of buying from this man whom apparently was and is a dealer I went ahead and bought him a couple of days later not knowing anything of his sire/dam, how big he would grow, what breeding he was - nothing. The first couple of months were hell, the Vets all said he wouldn't survive and he was too weak to do anything but stand in his stable. But come Christmas 2010 I had a healthy little gelding on my hands who was and is! the most genuine kind little horse I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. I don't want to go into detail but Murphy was supposed to be a project, get him healthy and sell him on to a nice 'for life' home. As the months went on Murphy taught me more than I have ever learnt in my prior 10 years around horses and I realised it wasn't all about the riding or about anything -- our bond was inseparable.
